Our very own Dr. Ibrahim just filmed an appearance as a guest expert on the NCTV17 show The Naperville Moms Network! She chatted with host Dr. Cathy Subber and co-hosts Erica Lopez, Saritha Arellano and Patti Minglin about kids’ oral health in the episode titled, “Managing Your Child’s Oral Health and Age Appropriate Responsibilities.” The show aired on Saturday, September 1 at 9:00 pm.You may know Dr. Ibrahim as a Naperville orthodontist who heads up Innovative Orthodontic Centers, but she’s also a mother of two children. So, she’s familiar with the struggle that can come along with keeping little ones’ smiles healthy. In this episode of the mom-focused talk show, Dr. Ibrahim discussed the recommended age for a child’s first dental visit (spoiler: it’s by the age of one!) and how to help kids with routine oral health care. She also talked about orthodontics, including why it’s recommended that children have their first orthodontic evaluation by age seven, the basics of two-phase treatment, how to choose between braces and Invisalign® Teen for your child and why she doesn’t use the dreaded headgear. She even talked about whether or not her own kids needed orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Ibrahim had a blast filming and getting to know the hosts and fellow moms. The half-hour show, which focuses on navigating the ups and downs of being a mom and a woman, is one of her favorites. Dr. Subber, Erica, Saritha and Patti are honest, funny and engaging and offer up plenty of helpful advice based on their own experiences raising children. They’re also members of the Naperville Moms Network, hence the name of the show, an online community that hosts monthly events for area moms, such as luncheons, family activities, seminars, meetups, networking groups and more. The organization is a valuable asset to the community and by creating a television show and podcast, they’ve been able to connect with even more moms. Dr. Ibrahim was so happy to get to be a part of it!
