We love moms at Innovative Orthodontic Centers! Not only do we see a lot of moms at our Shorewood and Naperville orthodontic offices, Dr. Adri Moyano, Dr. Manal Ibrahim and Dr. Christine Gin, as well as many of our team members, are mothers themselves. With Mother’s Day 2019 approaching on Sunday, May 12, we thought we’d take a moment to tell all of the moms out there how awesome they are. To help you show the mom in your life how much you care, we’re sharing some ideas for Mother’s Day events and activities in Naperville…
Naperville Community Gardeners Plant Sale
Ron Ory Community Gardens (811 S. West Street)
Start off your Mother’s Day in Naperville at the Naperville Community Gardeners’ Plant Sale at the Ron Ory Community Gardens West Street garden plots (at the north end in the gravel parking lot) on Saturday, May 11. The sale starts at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until either all of the plants are gone or 1 p.m. Chat with your neighbors, get free gardening advice, snack on baked goods and peruse the huge assortment of plants, flowers, vegetables and gift plants, including some from the members’ own gardens. Have mom choose her favorites and then spend the day on Sunday planting them in her garden.
Naperville Mother’s Day Brunch
Let mom sleep in this year and then treat her to brunch because who doesn’t love that dreamy combination of the first two meals of the day? Among the establishments serving up breakfast and brunch in Naperville on Mother’s Day are Elements at Water Street, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Méson Sabika and CityGate Grille. Or, if you don’t want to make reservations and you’d rather go with the flow, walk-ins will be welcome at Eggs, Inc., Egg Harbor Naperville and Quiubo.
Enjoy a Concert and Take a Tour
Millennium Carillon in Moser Tower, 443 Aurora Avenue
For one of the best Naperville Mother’s Day activities, stop by the Millennium Carillon in Moser Tower at the base of the Riverwalk’s Rotary Hill. You can climb the 253 steps to the top of the tower for a spectacular view and learn about the unique structure and its 72-bell instrument. The Visitor Center is open on Sundays from noon until 6 p.m. and guided tours are available. On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, a carillonneur will put on a recital and play the bells at 4pm.
Have a Tea Party
One of the most popular Mother’s Day events in Naperville is the Mother-Daughter Tea Party sponsored by the Naperville Park District. This year’s party, scheduled for Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the 95th Street Culinary Arts Room 303 is full already, however, you can register for the waiting list. Don’t let that dissuade you from having your own Naperville afternoon tea though. Visit Adagio Teas (27 W. Jefferson Avenue), which will be open on Sunday, May 12 from noon until 6 p.m., to find an artisan tea to brew. You can also schedule a private tasting with one of the knowledgeable staff members to explore new teas.
Send Mom for a Spa Day
We have no shortage of spas in Naperville and you can never go wrong with giving mom the gift of relaxation and pampering. Purchase a gift certificate for her or join her and have a spa day together. Some of the best spas in Naperville include ME Spa at Main Street Promenade (55 South Main Street, Suite 200), Zano Salon & Day Spa (35 South Washington Street and 1767 W. Ogden Avenue), Niki Moon Salon & Spa (1100 N. Sherman Avenue, Suite 108), Stolen Moments Centre (1763 Freedom Drive, Suite 125), Arista Salon & Spa (2155 City Gate Lane, Suite 201), C’zar Salon Spa Downtown Naperville (237 West Jefferson Avenue), Zazu Salon & Day Spa (135 S. Washington Street), Beaux Cheveux Salon Spa (1935 Springbrook Square Drive, Suite 101) and Michael Graham Salon & Spa (50 S. Main Street, Suite 100 and 2860 Showplace Drive, Suite 112).
Have a Picnic
Weather permitting, another excellent idea for Mother’s Day activities in Naperville is having a picnic. Pack a lunch, head to one of our fabulous parks, spread out a blanket and soak up the sunshine (hopefully). Take a DIY approach with a simple menu featuring sandwiches or wraps, fresh fruit, snacks and dessert. Or, get goodies to go from Schmaltz (1512 North Naper Boulevard) or Zeppe’s Italian Market (529 W. 87th Street).
Break a Sweat
If mom is active and you want an alternative to traditional Mother’s Day fun, why not take a fitness or yoga class together or surprise her with a membership? A few of our local favorites are Orangetheory Fitness, Pure Barre, Hot Yoga Naperville and Handlebars Cycling Gym.
Happy Mother’s Day from the Innovative Orthodontic Centers family!
